What is this about?
B&W Custom Truck Beds, Inc. has decided that a safety defect exists in certain Tow & Stow adjustable ball mounts. Accordingly, a recall to address this issue is being initiated effective immediately.
Why are the black pins being recalled?
A combination of material issues and certain conditions during Nitrotec® coating potentially decreased the toughness of the long pins’ steel. This decrease in toughness may cause these pins to fracture under loads within the manufacturer’s rating for these products, which may cause the adjustable hitch to fail. If this occurs, a trailer under tow may separate from the tow vehicle, especially if inadequate safety chains were employed. This condition may occur without warning.
Using this product in cold temperatures, and overloading of the coupler may contribute to this issue.
